VBVA 30 DAY VERT CHALLENGE!

by bamvbva

With another lock-down, comes another challenge!

With the scourge of the Delta variant, there is a good chance we may be unable to train on the sand with nets, and game-play and… all those fun things. For at least the next few weeks (lock-down has yet to be extended past the end of August, but likely will be) we’re going to be training within a 5km radius of our homes. So… how do we keep motivated?

A Challenge! We’ve had a team challenge, an individual challenge, pizza making challenges, dessert making challenges… we even had an auction challenge. Well, that auction wasn’t really a challenge, but to get the online cash meant being challenged in countless Zoom training sessions. So, it kinda was a challenge. But anyway, rambling now…

This one, like the challenges from back in lock-down one, two and ah… a third, also during that second lock-down, will run for 30 days. Only this time, it’s all about improving the vert!

What’s a vert? I hear someone calling from the back of the keyboard. Short for ‘vertical’; it’s your jump, your hops, your kangaroo legs… okay, not the last one. It’s the difference between swinging down over a net and swinging up at one. An increase in your vert is going to help you swing over blocks, bounce ball into crowds, and pretend to be the walls of a phone booth when blocking your opponents.

It’s about being massive! No. Really, it’s probably more, ‘raise your jump by 5-10cm while we’re locked up for the next 30 days’. So, we’re on that mission from Monday 23rd August.

You can follow our progress as a crew here.

For the crew joining in on the challenge, this is how you fill out the challenge spreadsheet. Don’t forget to measure your jump height prior to starting on Monday.
