VBVA COVID CHALLENGE TWO POINT ZERO

JULY 20TH – AUGUST 18TH

Here we are again! Unfortunately due to a few security guards who can’t observe social distancing measures… we’re all back in lockdown until roughly the 20th August. So… it’s sort of a perfect time to pull out another challenge! Because we have just come off four weeks of steady training and, by the end of this challenge we’ll be about six weeks out from the start of the 2020-21 season… this’ll be a different, HARDER kind of challenge.

30 days. Buddies. Live sessions… no baking.

30 Days. Every day needs to have some form of exercise. You’ll have live sessions, a list of daily exercises you can work out with your buddy; ride a bike, go for a jog, add it all in… oh, and we’ll have no baking challenges. Not because they weren’t fun, but because we want to blitz it when we

Buddies! We all need someone to motivate us… push us to get off our lazy cheeks and into the groove. I have assigned you all a buddy. The two of you need to be in contact daily. If you see your buddy hasn’t filled in their exercise numbers for a day, check if they’re all good. If you get on the live Zoom, and you don’t spot them… check in. I want you all to be so freakin fit when lockdown ends, that fitness is not the emphasis of training leading into October. You want to step into the new season hustling, jumping and shotting better than your opponents? Put the effort in for these 30 days. SCROLL DOWN FOR LISTING OF BUDDIES.

Live Sessions! Every Tuesday late afternoon, and Saturday morning, we will jump on Zoom. The midweek session will run for 20 minutes, the Saturday session for 30 minutes. It’ll be about 1 minute of hello’s, followed by 8-10 minutes of random exercises, in small bursts, with limited break time on the Tuesday. That will be followed by pepper/juggle drills, mostly with an emphasis on using your peripheral vision. The random exercises will run for about 15 minutes on the Saturday. You’ll need a beach volleyball and a tennis ball (or similar). Might be worth rolling out a mat, if you don’t have carpet. Here are the times in a larger, bold font:

TUESDAY 5:40PM ( 21st July, 28th July, 4th August, 11th August, 18th August)

SATURDAY 9AM (25th July, 1st August, 8th August, 15th August)

Prizes! Yes… a few… for what? You’ll see.

There will be some clothing prizes up for grabs. From unisex jumpers and tee’s (featuring the new designs) to dot-grip hobo gloves, and other cool stuff. We may also have a few items on offer thanks to Mooseknuckle Clothing.

The spreadsheet.

It may look similar to the last challenge layout, but there are three key differences… Daily, and weekday breakdowns, the colour scheme and the ‘Two point zero’ in the title. So, quite simply it’s prettier, has a cooler title, and colour-coded sections allow you to easily work out each day of training. The ‘daily’ section in grey has four base options. YOU CAN CHANGE ALL OF THESE. If you don’t want to do push-ups, tap on the text and then change the exercise in the text bar. Look at having four base exercises. Replace any exercises you don’t want to do, from those listed. Try to have days on/off for set focus areas (ie. shoulder day, leg day etc.). If you’ve got equipment, use it.

This is an um… spreadsheet. A very pretty one.

Timed rows… if a section is recorded in minutes, just go by 1, 1.25, 1.5.1.75 etc. not in 30, 45. .. unless you know how to convert to a timed row. I don’t, so ah… don’t ask me how. I’ll just reiterate that bit you just read: 1, 1.25, blah blah.

Live sessions… if you’re doing a live session, you don’t need to complete the training in the spreadsheet for that day. Unless you choose to do both.

Extra grey rows… doing some other things? Like riding your bike, dancing like nobody is watching, or ah gaming till you sweat (because you have the heater on too high). Throw it in to the grey section to the right of the Zoom row.
