3rd – Australian Junior Tour – SA Open
U17s Victorian team
Lucia may only be two years into the sport, but beach volleyball is her life. In the space of a year Luci, along with partner Laura, went from finishing in the last few positions at the U17 Australian Junior Nationals, to a 9th place finish at the SA Open on the Australian Beach Volleyball tour. The pair went from playing ‘A’ level locally, to pool games against Australian Championship bronze medalists Mickaela Vorlova (CZE) and Lucia Michalovicova (SVK), and a play-off game against Olympian Mariafe Artacho Del Solar and Thai legend Yupa Phokongploy.
No sooner had the 2016/17 season finished up, Luci was on a plane to France, where she spent three months training and competing with the locals.
Lucia and Laura finished their first full season together just outside the top 100 female players in the country. With a full off-season of training and playing, Lucia can expect to take the next step toward completing her goals, and placing herself in the national development frame.
“Quick, strong and committed… if only we could bottle this! Lucia may have only been in beach volleyball for a few years, but her desire to succeed, and willingness to work hard will ensure she reaches the highest echelons of the sport in this country.” – BAM
- Play a few national opens, and hopefully break into the top eight at one of the events.
- To play as many AAA events as possible, with the aim to make a semi-final before seasons end.
- To perfect my shots; especially cutties… improve my court vision, and to make my overall game more consistent.
- To always stay positive!
